Everything about the Sri Lanka ETA
What is the Sri Lanka ETA?
The ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is the mandatory electronic travel permit for most foreign travellers visiting Sri Lanka, for tourism, business or transit.
Is this authorization free?
Since May 25, 2026, it is free for nationals of 40 countries as well as Singapore and Seychelles (30 days), and the Maldives (90 days). Other nationalities must pay official fees, in addition to our service fee.
What is the difference between Tourist, Business and Transit ETA?
The Tourist ETA covers tourism and leisure, the Business ETA covers short-term professional activities, and the Transit ETA covers passing through Sri Lanka to another destination (maximum 2 days).
When should I apply for my ETA?
We recommend submitting your application several days before departure, to allow enough time for processing and verification.
